CBD oil or Cannabidiol is a natural molecule of cannabis, which comes from the hemp plant. It’s become popular in the media over the last couple of years, but it was discovered before THC in 1940. The chemist, Roger Adams, of Harvard University was the first person to extract CBD successfully, and scientists started to see the benefits of the CBD in the 1960s. CBD oil can be made from both hemp and marijuana, but there is some key difference between the two. Unlike marijuana, hemp plants are legal in the U.S. since the introduction of the 2018 Farm Bill, which excluded it from the Controlled Substances Act, and therefore all hemp-derived products are legal. Another main difference between CBD oil derived from hemp versus CBD oil derived from marijuana is the cannabinoid content.
